Oh! mumukShus! you are fit even to rule the paramapada. If that be so, why do you waste your time in unnecessary austerities like fasting, tapas, indriyanigrata (control of senses) etc? These acts help only in torturing of the body (which is the abode of paramAtman); they will in no way help you in liberation. Just go to tillai tiruchchittirakooDam where emberumAn resides since it is a very pleasant place full of forests—where trees sway in the breeze, the beautiful peacocks dance, bees seek the ponds where flowers shed their honey and where the creeper in the mansions sway to and fro worship Him there and seek His blessings. This is all you have to do!.

Oh! Baktas! If you have a strong desire to think and meditate Him who has pirATTi in His tirumArbu, do not resort to tapas. The tapas is hard and difficult to perform. It requires eating of unripe and raw vegetables, dried fruits and leaves, breath in hot air standing in the midst of five agnis (four on the four sides and sun above) for a long time. All these tapas will not fetch you His anugraha but a simple Bakti will do. Therefore go to tillai tiruchchittirakooDam—the city where vaidikas chant vEdas and agni sacrifice everyday—which is reputed for its vaidika karmas.

Oh! My friends! Who want to worship and seek the lotus like tiruvaDi of emberumAn! go and seek Him—who has taken an extraordinary angry varAha avatAra to extricate the Boomi from under the aNDa Bitti—at tillai tiruchchittirakooDam. He was worshipped by the pallava king by offering golden flowers, pearls and precious gems at His tiruvaDi.

Oh! My friends! Who want to chant His names—who took vAmana avatAra and begged the three feet of land from mahAbali in order to measure them for the sake of indra—in order to get rid of your samsAra duhKa! Come to tiruchchittirakooDam where emberumAn—who lies on tiruanandAzhwAn who has a split tongue—resides with periya pirATTi.

BagavAn took paraSurAma avatAra in order to reduce the Boomi BAra –the weight of wicked kings—and killed them all in a fight with them. Oh! My good friends! If you want to worship this tapasvi and make Him your own! Go to tiruchchittirakooDam where He is seen with SreedEvi on His right BoodEvi on His left and ‘puhazh dEvi’ (the fame as a dEvi) on all sides! Seek Him in this divya dESa which has reputation and prosperity in full measure.

Sree rAma wearing ornaments on His sapphire—like body got angry at the sea god when he did not obey Him. He was about to discharge His sharp edged-fire-emitting arrows at him when he submitted himself to build a bridge across him. Oh! My friends! Who want to live thinking of Him alone in your mind! Go and seek Him at tiruchchittirakooDam—where vaidikas live who always chant four vEdas which the young girls at home hear and repeat them playfully. The parrots hear these girls do that and repeat the vEdas which please the vaidikas.

emberumAn wanted to marry nappinnai pirATTi and hence defeated the seven bulls for her sake. He married periya pirATTi who was born of sea where fish swirl in the water and took her in His tirumArbu. Oh! Friends! If you want to meditate on Him go to tiruchchittirakooDam where there is the river veLLAru (niva) which brings big elephant tusks and sandal trees from the mountain where she flows down and makes the city wealthy.

Oh! My friends! If you want to seek His tiruvaDi—who split open the mouth and body of the asura kESi; who lifted gOvardhana mountain as an umbrella to protect the AyarpADi cattle and people; who grazed the cattle happily with His friends in the forests; who is a mAya swallowing the worlds during praLaya—go to tiruchchittirakooDam where there are thousands of vaidikas who worship with vEdic rites the ’aNangAya SOdi’ and ‘dEvAdi dEva’.

Oh! Friends! If you want to get rid of the sins—which you acquired by running after the spear-eyed maidens, thinking over ways of winning them; not minding to do anything to obtain them—which take you to hell, go to tiruchchittirakooDam and worship Him who is difficult to attain even by brahma and others. The divya dESa itself in paramapada. Here flows the river niva which brings along its current pearls and scatter them in the wet fields. The fish are afraid of these large pearls and jump away in fear. The pearls appear as if seeds are sown in the fields.

tirumangai AzhwAr has sung ten pASuras on the ‘SengaNmAl’ who reside in tiruchchittirakooDam. the Baktas who enjoy His guNas and chESTitas are not satiated by any amount of hearing and meditation on Him. For their sake AzhwAr has sung these pASuras. Those who read them and meditate on the meaning will for ever live under His tiruvaDi serving Him by all means.
